In the fall of 2006, several UCARE members returned to Ukraine, retracing the original "Hearts for Art" trek. They brought gifts and much-needed supplies to the orphanages that had participated in the project.
The wrote about this trip on the Hearts for Art blog, which documented this Fall 2006 March-Rut.

| Books purchased for the orphanages |
|
|
We bought sets of reference books and picture books for all of the orphanages. Because of budgetary constraints, the directors often have trouble replacing disintegrating and out-of-date textbooks, much less buy recreational books for the children.

Above is an example of the sorts of beds the children have to sleep in. Our volunteers who visited in May of 2005 were asked by the directors of several orphanages to help them replace these beds with sturdy beds and decent mattresses. We are working on replacing them through our "Buy a Bed" program.
