While we are extremely grateful to every single person who has donated money to the Buy-a-Bed program, we wanted to single out an individual who has gone well above and beyond the call of duty. Mr. Nick Mykolenko, a parishioner at St. Mary's Church, heard about our Buy-a-Bed program and decided to take it up as his own special cause. He began by nagging....er, encouraging all of his many friends, relatives and offspring to donate generously to the program. He then sent out fundraising letters, on his own, to members of the parish and of all the organizations whose membership lists he had access to.
The response was overwhelming. At last estimate, his fundraising efforts have raised approximately 18,000 dollars, providing new, comfortable beds for 225 orphans.
We, and the orphans, all want to thank him for his generous efforts on our behalf!
